Phoenix roebelenii also known as Pygmy Date Palm is a solitary palm in cultivation,  small to medium size with slow-growing slender trunk and It is  a popular ornamental plant in tropical to subtropical areas, including Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, California, southern Nevada, coastal Texas, Florida, parts of Louisiana and Arizona.

But the very wild form of Phoenix roebelenii is a clumping palm. You can see the wild form .
